Important Notes
-
You can have 1
photograph with your UK free ads. The photo
is FREE
of Charge.
-
The most common mistake
we come across is people scanning
their photos at a far higher resolution than necessary, which
produces a very large sized file. A standard 5" x 3.5"
photo needs only to be scanned at only 150 dpi for the web.
-
To resolve, we have set out a
few guidelines in 'Scanning
and Photo
Tips' to help you keep your photo sizes
manageable. Please take a moment to read through the notes before
proceeding.
-
If you have
scanned your own photo(s) they should be in the .jpg or
.jpeg format only. We
do not accept photos in any other format. Click 'Scanning
and Photo
Tips' to find out the best settings to use when
scanning your photo. This will ensure that your photo is of the
right size and quality.
-
Make sure that your
horse photo is no larger than 50Kb in
size. If you have scanned your photo at 150dpi, a
standard 5" x 3.5" photograph should always be under 50Kb.
See 'Scanning and
Photo Tips'.
-
If your photo is presently in a format other than .jpg or .jpeg, and/or
if you need to RESCALE it, you will need to open it up in
your photo editor programme. The RESCALE / RESIZE facility is
normally found in your editor's Tools. You will need to
rescale to no larger than approx 600 x 400 pixels, and then use the
SAVE AS facility (in your file menu), to SAVE AS .jpg or
.jpeg format. See 'Scanning
and Photo
Tips'.
-
You may be asked to RENAME your photo.
To ensure that photos do not get muddled up, if the name of the
photo that you send in already exists on our database, you will be
asked to rename the photo. This ensures that each photo is unique to
each advert.
i.e. - If your original photo was myphoto.jpg and on
submission you received a message back asking you to rename the
photo, because another photo of that name already exists on the
database, probably the simplest way of renaming it would be to take
your Unique Advert Reference Number, and add it to the end of your
photo name.
So, let's say and you
were allocated a Reference Number of 56 for your advert -
you could rename your photo - myphoto56.jpg
-
REMEMBER
a photo name cannot contain the following characters
\
/ * : ? # > < ' (single
apostrophe)
" (double
apostrophe)
-
If your
photos have been taken by a professional photographer you
will need the photographers permission, in writing, for us
to use the photo. We do not need to see the signed
permission, but it is your responsibility to obtain it if
required.
